Paint Pallette

Children's Competitions

In the run up to the Festival we will be running two competitions for children and young people, there will be prizes for both competitions with different age groups in one of them.

Art Competition

The art competition is for children and young people and will be split into two categories with prizes for each. The categories will be for Primary School and Secondary School ages.
Entrants are asked to paint, draw or create an artwork which best shows what the 12th July means to them. The artwork does not neccessarily have to include aspects of the traditional 12th July parade, perhaps some people go on holiday and that could be reflected in the artwork. All we ask is that the artwork truly reflect how the children view the annual 12th Celebrations and all that surrounds it. The competition will be judged by local artist Mitch McDade whose client list includes former USA President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary. Mitch was commissioned by the LOL 781 who are hosting the 12th July Parade in Donaghadee, to create a one off artwork to mark the occassion. This artwork can be viewed on the Upper Ards District LOL 11 website. The prizes will be Argos vouchers and will be broken down as follows.

Entries should be left into Dunns Footwear, High Street, Donaghadee no later than Friday 6th July.

For Both Age Groups : 1st - £50 2nd - £25 3rd - £25 ( Argos Vouchers )

Flag

Spot the Flag Competition

There will also be a spot the flag competition where we will place flags representing countries which have Orange Lodges in them in local shop windows, the children will have to find the flags then figure out which country each flag represents. This will show how far the Orange / Ulster Scots traditions have spread throughout the world. The competition will be open to anyone under the age of 16 and prizes will be as follows the winners will be chosen at random from all the correct entries.

1st - £50 2nd - £25 3rd - £25 ( Argos Vouchers )
